        3. Attend meetings for student leaders
        4. Collaborate with peers
        5. Coordinate volunteer activities at your school site & beyond
Sample Leader Activities
*  Remember to get administrative approval before implementing activities
  • Make an announcement on the school news that promotes reading
  • Ask friends what their favorite books are and make a poster of the list to hang in the library
  • Coordinate an effort for a group of high school students to read books to children who are younger than you
  • Tell your class or group of friends about a good book you’ve read
  • Survey students and make a suggested book list
  • Read a book with a peer who is older than you
  • Invite two or three students to read the same book with you then have book talks about your reading
  • With input from classmates, school administrators, teachers, friends, and community members… create a student generated “must read” Summer Book list.  Post on the school’s website and/or in central locations throughout your school
  • Promote and coordinate a school-wide, grade-level, or class book swap
