The Deputy Superintendents of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Ava Byrne, Antoinette Dunbar, and Ofelia San Pedro have a passion for reading and literacy that reaches far and wide across our district. Together, this dynamic trio has set into motion a series of events to motivate students at the secondary level to Get Up and READ! This secondary reading campaign seeks to promote reading for the sheer pleasure of it.
The deputies are not just ambassadors for reading, they are reading enthusiasts too. Look for them out at schools and select events. They will participate in the campaign by reading aloud to students and sharing their personal interest in reading. Although all three deputies have hectic schedules and busy lives, they agree unanimously that recreational reading is an integral part of life that provides a joyous retreat. It is with this in mind, that we invite you to join the campaign to Get Up and READ!
